Salt | Salt Of The Earth

In my 7th grade Science class, we have been taking a look at the Periodic Table of Elements, and one of the compounds that stood out on the table is sodium chloride. Sodium chloride, also known as salt, is an ionic compound with the chemical formula NaCl. There are over 14,000 known uses for salt, some dating back to ancient times. Salt plays an important role in maintaining human health. The sodium in salt is essential for nerve and muscle function, and is involved in the regulation of body fluids. So when asked, do we need salt? The answer is an overwhelming yes.

In pop culture, the term “salty” describes someone who is mean, angry, annoying and repulsive. I prefer to use the term “salty” in a context that describes someone who is reliable, trustworthy, and straightforward, symbolizing the salt of the Earth as described in Matthew 5:13; “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”

Share your thoughts on maintaining saltiness.
