Bridges | Build Or Burn Bridges?

I recently found out the expression, "Don't burn your bridges behind you," came from a military strategy used during battles. Simple said, the expression means you should always leave a way to retreat.

When I consider the expression and how it applies to my life, I can’t help but think about the times I have said I am not going to talk to someone because I felt insulted or treated unfairly.

Through my own personal growth, I have come to realize that bridges (relationships) rust, crack and breakdown sometimes, but it doesn’t mean they should be burned. They just might be in need of some repairs or rebuilding.

There is another expression that goes “Burning bridges may light the way.” This means there is no going back, and the fire of the bridge being burned can light the way forward.

Let me know your thoughts on bridges.
