Cottage | Summer Cottage Or Cottage Cheese?

A cottage is described as a small simple house, typically one near a lake or beach. The term 'cottage cheese' is believed to have originated because the cheese was generally made in cottages from milk left over, after making butter. Cottage cheese is a fresh cheese curd product with a mild flavor. It is not aged, and is made not by pressing the cheese but by draining it, which allows some of the whey to stay which keeps the curds loose. Cottage cheese is an excellent source of calcium, a mineral that plays a major role in tooth and bone health, and in the prevention of osteoporosis. It can also help you lose weight because of its low calorie and high protein content.

Due to the appearance and texture of cottage cheese, its name has been used to describe the condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance created by cellulite. Cellulite usually affects the buttocks and thighs but can also occur in other areas. It occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin.

Recently, my husband commented that my thighs were starting to look like cottage cheese. My sharp response was “what’s wrong with cottage cheese? Don’t you know it’s good for you!” He did not say a word, but responded with a smile.
